Privacy policy
This help center can be used without registering and without providing personal data. It uses no tracking, embeds no advertising networks and builds no visitor profiles. This statement describes which data nevertheless arises, and why.
1. Controller
Dartcom GmbH, Van-der-Mölen Str. 17, 21339 Lüneburg, Germany
- Represented by: Richard Petersik, Anton Wietzke
- Email: dartcom.app@gmail.com
We have not appointed a data protection officer, as the statutory conditions for doing so are not met. For questions about data protection, please contact us at the address above.
2. Visiting the site (server logs)
When you open a page, your browser transmits technically necessary data to our hosting provider: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the volume of data transferred, the referrer, and browser and operating system identifiers.
This data is required in order to deliver the site, ensure its stability and defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in secure and uninterrupted operation. This data is not merged with any other data sources.
3. Cookies
We set no cookies for advertising, tracking or analytics purposes. That is why no cookie banner appears on this site.
Only strictly necessary cookies are set:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the selected language (German or English) | Session; deleted when the browser closes |
| Sign-in session cookies | Only in the editorial area /admin after successful sign-in | Session, or until sign-out |
Both are strictly necessary for the service you requested within the meaning of section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. No consent is required for them. The editorial area is open exclusively to our staff.
4. Audience measurement without cookies
We want to know which articles help and which are missing. We measure this without cookies and without recognising you across sessions:
- Article views — we count only how often an article was opened on a given day in a given language. A plain counter with no personal reference.
- Search queries — the search term entered, the number of results and, where applicable, the article clicked. Searches without results are our most important metric: they tell us which article to write next.
- Article feedback — your rating ("this helped" / "this did not help") and an optional free-text comment.
So that the same rating is not counted twice, we derive an identifier for
feedback using
SHA-256(IP address + browser identifier + current date + secret key).
This identifier is a pseudonym: your IP address is not stored, and because
the current date is part of the calculation, the identifier changes daily.
Recognition across multiple days is therefore technically impossible.
Please do not enter personal data into the search field or the free-text feedback field — we do not need it there.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in improving our help content and in preventing abusive repeated submissions.
5. Embedded YouTube videos
Some articles contain videos. These do not load automatically. Before you click "Load video", no contact is made with Google — neither for the video nor for a preview image. Until then you see only a placeholder served from our own site.
Only when you click do we load the video via youtube-nocookie.com. In doing
so, data — in particular your IP address — is transmitted to Google Ireland
Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, and may be forwarded
to the USA. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, which
you give by clicking. You may withdraw it at any time with future effect by
reloading the page and not starting the video again.

6. Recipients and processors
We do not disclose personal data for advertising purposes. To operate this help center we use the following providers, with each of whom a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place:
| Provider | Role | Place of processing |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA | Hosting and delivery of the pages | EU data centres, company domiciled in the USA |
| Supabase Inc., 970 Toa Payoh North, Singapore | Database and editorial sign-in | Frankfurt am Main, Germany (eu-central-1) |
Where data is transferred to a third country outside the EU, we base the transfer on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR, or on an adequacy decision.
No visitor data is processed by our AI translation service: to translate our help articles we use OpenRouter, Inc. (USA). We transmit only the article texts written by our editorial team — never search queries, feedback, IP addresses or any other visitor data.
7. Retention
Our hosting provider deletes server logs after 30 days at the latest. Search queries and article feedback are deleted after twelve months. View counters contain no personal reference and are retained permanently in aggregated form. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.
8. Your rights
You have the right to information (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with future effect (Art. 7 (3)).
Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR: where we process data on the basis of a legitimate interest (sections 2 and 4), you may object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
One practical note: because the identifier in section 4 changes daily and we do not store your IP address, we cannot locate you within that data. We can therefore only answer a request for information or erasure relating to it if you provide additional details that make identification possible (Art. 11 (2) GDPR). This is not evasion, but a consequence of the data-minimising design.
For all such matters, please contact dartcom.app@gmail.com.
9. Right to lodge a complaint
Independently of the above, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the authority responsible for us:
Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany — lfd.niedersachsen.de
10. Changes to this statement
We update this statement as soon as the processing described here changes. The version published here is the applicable one; the date below indicates its status.
This is a translation of the German original. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.
