How do I onboard my club to the tournament software, step by step?
Updated August 24, 2026
This guide walks a new club through the tournament software end to end: from setting up the club and board tablets to creating and drawing the tournament, and on to running it, evaluating results and the live view for spectators. Every step links to the matching detailed article.
With the tournament software your club runs its own tournaments — from a small club night to a large event. This guide takes you through it once, end to end: what to prepare, how the pieces fit together and in which order to proceed. Every step links to a detailed article with screenshots.
Before you start: what you need
You need three things for a tournament:
- A club. Tournaments belong to a club. To create and manage one, see Club: create and manage a club.
- Members (recommended). Club members can be added as participants with a single tap and get their tournament stats in their profile. See Invite members to the club.
- At least one board device. A tablet at the dartboard that scores the games. To set one up, see Set up a device as a board.
Guest players don't need an account. If not every participant is a member, you can add guests simply by name — their names are kept for the next tournament.
The big picture: how a tournament works
Before you begin, it helps to see how the building blocks work together:
- Your phone is the tournament control. Here you create the tournament, add players, start the draw and steer the flow.
- Board tablets stand at the dartboards and score the individual games. They are connected to your club and are assigned their matches automatically.
- The mode defines how the tournament is played — knockout, double knockout, group stage followed by a knockout phase, or league. It is fixed once the knockout phase starts, whereas the distance (best of X) stays adjustable at any time.
- The live view shows spectators the running games, standings and specials — including on a big screen.
Step 1 – Set up your club and members
First create your club and invite your players. You only do this once; for every further tournament the club is already there.
Step 2 – Set up boards
Add your club's boards under Club settings → Boards & devices and connect a tablet to each one. The tablet is paired with the club via a QR code and then assigned to a board. Full instructions: Set up a device as a board.
Test beforehand. Connect the board tablets calmly before the tournament — on the day itself you don't want to be fiddling with Wi-Fi and QR codes.
Step 3 – Create the tournament and choose the mode
Open Play → Tournament → Create tournament and choose between a club tournament and a local tournament. Then set the name, mode, structure, boards and specials. Every option is explained in Create tournament: settings.
Which mode fits?
- Single knockout — lose once and you're out. Fast and exciting, good for many players and little time.
- Double knockout — you're only out after a second loss. Fairer, but takes longer.
- Group + knockout — groups first (round robin), then the best advance into a knockout round.
- League — everyone plays everyone across the full table, optionally with home and away matches.
You also choose the game type (301 to 1001, straight/double in and out), the distance per phase (best of X — set separately for the group and knockout rounds), the specials (high score, high finish, short leg) and whether bots should fill empty slots.
Step 4 – Add players
In the Add players tab you choose between Add club members and Guest players. Details: Add players to the tournament.
Step 5 – Start and draw
In the Players tab you check the participant list and can still exclude individuals. Start suggests a number of groups, which you can still change or redraw on the next screen. Full instructions: Start and draw the tournament.
What can still change. You can adjust the distance (best of X) at any time — even during the tournament. Only the knockout mode (single or double knockout) is fixed once the tournament has started.
Step 6 – Run and evaluate the tournament
The games run on the connected boards. You steer the tournament itself through the Results, Stats, Specials and Standings tabs. The eye icon opens the live view, the gear icon the in-tournament settings — where you can also exclude a player later if needed (they appear as a walkover afterwards). All the detail: Run and evaluate the tournament.
Step 7 – Spectators and result
The live view is made for spectators and the big screen in the clubhouse. At the end, Dartcom shows the podium with each player's average; the same view appears on the board and is closed there with Done. You'll find the finished tournament again afterwards in the results under Tournaments.
Your first run
Practice run with bots. For the first time it's worth a small test tournament — let bots fill the empty slots, play it through once and you'll know every step before real players compete.
That's the whole path, once through. For each step you'll find the detailed article with screenshots below.
